Grateful

Wow! So much is on my mind....So much to do....so much going on.....things never stop.
My friends had a going away brunch for me today. Lora, Amy, Kristy, Dawneen, Debbie, Carol, and Emily were there. It was great to have one last time to get together and let the kids play while we talked and remembered good times together these last 3 years that I've lived here. I will miss them all very much!
We had a showing today which was so appreciated after 3 weeks of no one looking at our house. The kids and I fasted yesterday for some progress on our house. When we got home from church there was a message from the realtor about a showing today. Alex was so sweet and went running down the hall to tell Katie. He said, " It worked...our prayers were answered and someone wants to come and see the house." I was thankful for that faith building experience for the kids. What a blessing.
There were alot of tears at church on Sunday. Boy are we going to miss everyone. We have had so much support and help. Someone brought us dinner Sunday, we were invited to dinner tonight, and someone is bringing a meal tomorrow. Some women are coming to help prepare for the movers to come tomorrow. My friend came over tonight and helped me pack all of the kids suitcases and prepare the church clothes for next Sunday morning. My other friend volunteered to clean my car tomorrow so it is ready to be shipped Wednesday. Another friend is picking up katie during school and bringing her to and from her last orthodontist appt so that I don't loose momentum at the house getting things done. My elderly neighbor is taking John and Adam all day so I can work without them undoing everything. I could go on and on about so many people who are willing to help. I n the meantime all of these great women are also preparing for a funeral to take place any day. An awesome, amazing man in our ward has been battling colon cancer along with his son for the last 9 months. His son, who is a newlywed, is recovering, but his dad, who is only about 50 was rushed to the hospital last night and is nearing death. It is so sad. This man was so friendly to us when we moved in.He was so energetic and full of life. I can't believe the transformation that has taken place so quick. He still has a son in high school. We are praying for the family tonight.
I am so thankful for the lessons I have learned here while in Pleasant View. These are truly some of the most strong, valiant people I have ever associated with in my life.

Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I absolutely love this quote from Marjorie Pay Hinckley:
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking the kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someones garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

General Conference

I really do not like computers that much, but today I figured out how to play General Conference re-runs. I have been listening and watching all morning and it has been so wonderfully uplifting when I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. What a blessing to listen to the inspiring words of prophets and apostles!

Moving

Crazy day again....
Alex had his first performance last night with his guitar and tonight Katie is singing in the Ladies Choir at the high school. I am glad that we were here for their first and last performance this year and in UT.
Fall is so beautiful! I absolutely love this time of year. I wish I could post some pics...but not until Wed.
It has been such a great 3 yrs here in Utah. I am REALLY going to miss it. This is such a bittersweet move. We are excited about being MUCH, MUCH closer to Chris' parents/family in Kansas and Arkansas, but sad to leave our wonderful community here. This is truly a place I can imagine retiring someday. There are MANY wonderful helping hands here......I have so many people watching out for me while Chris is gone and helpful neighbors willing to keep the yard up and the house ready to show after we move on. They are amazing. The schools have such kind staff and are honestly sad to see the kids go. Our ward/church family have been so awesome. I really cannot imagine moving as many times as we have without our church. It is instant support and friends immediately wherever you go. Every state I have lived in ...I can always think back to who the first person was who reached out to help us either move in, babysat our kiddos, brought in a meal etc.
I have made so many great friends that I still keep in touch with. I feel so grateful for all of our blessings.......I bet some of those old friends might be reading this blog right now....(:

Hi Dianna, Brandie,Tina,Lynda,Deanna, Brenda,Misty, Michelle, Lisa, Jeanette, Rachel,Joni,Becky,Barbara, Julie,Dawneen, Debbie, Cherie,Charlene,Teri, Shauna, Kim,Andrea, Rochelle,Lainie,Stephanie,Emily,Sheila,Carol,Joyce, Kristy,Robin,Carolyn,Amy,Laurie,Lora......and many many more.

Busy!

Holy Crud! I only have one week 'til the movers get here. I have been running around like a crazy woman with school withdrawls/ transcripts ( for Alex), doctors appts, more shots. Now we have 4 kids having "Going Away" parties. The first one is today after school. Kate is having about 10- 15 friends come home with her on the bus. I told her outdoors only! I am trying to still keep the house in one piece! Friday Steven and Ryan are having a combo bday/ going away party at the park. Now we are getting into the 40+ kids coming! I sure wish Chris were in town to be an extra set of eyes! My friend is going to be helping me though. Ryan's bday was where Alex broke his leg last year at the park. I am crossing my fingers for no REPEATS of that.
I gotta get cleaning around here.
Bye!

Monday

Hey all of you faithful blog readers out there. I no longer have a way to get photos off of my digital camera so my blog will be picture less until we move. Chris took the laptop to Texas. He started his new job this AM. I can't wait to see how it went! I am here with the kiddos getting ready to go. I am off to get shots updated for registering in TX schools, John's got an eye appt., Katie has an ear appt, and my suburban is in the shop! I really hate that car. I get to drive the sienna today...if only we could all fit in it..... tomorrow it is getting shipped to TX so that it will arrive by the time Chris gets back from moving us out there. We can only have one rental car at a time and we will need a big van for all 8 of us and the luggage until our suburban arrives. When Chris flies in on Tues. he is picking up the 12 passenger Chevy van. I guess we will see if we can handle driving the "church van" and then maybe decide to sell our suburban and switch it for a 12 passenger when we get to TX . I am soooo thankful we get to fly and not drive the 1000 ugly miles in between here and Dallas. What a blessing.
The kids are getting excited for Halloween. We got a ton of new costumes from DI the other day. Most of you know it does not take Halloween to get us to dress up...we have A LOT of costumes in our family. The new ones we picked up are Buzz Light year, 2 Frogs (for J&A),Superman, Robin( as in Batman and), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Peter Pan, Grim Reaper cloak, Dracula cape, a big Spider man ( for Ryan to play with the little boys), cave man, and my favorite......an Elvis leisure suit for Alex. BY the way it looks awesome with Ryan's blue guitar! (: The kids have been dressing up all weekend. The 3 "spider men"( Ryan, Adm , and John) went over to our neighbors to borrow some lemon juice and gave a few drivers a good laugh. I love that the big kids still like to play dress up . Alex was wearing the Elvis suit off and on all weekend.
Gotta Run! John is begging me to go get his second Hep A shot!

FYI

If anyone was wondering....we are moving out of our house on the 15th . Less than 2 weeks and the movers will be here!

Hopefully we will have a miracle happen and get an offer on our house before then. If not...it will just be shown empty. And it would be very nice if it was sold before the front yard looks like this.
Chris is moving to Ft Worth on Saturday. Lockheed Martin is putting us up in a 4 bedroom apartment until December. It will simplify my life a lot! I am very excited!
